Bigbury on Sea. Devon.

Looking out at Burgh Island with a 13th century pub on it. Beautiful and peaceful here.

@Starsandfire you might be in the best place now

But you will always be English to us

@Adamski24 Plymouths alright. Lol. Cornwall prettier though.

If that's the place I think it is, the hotel has or used to have a Land-Rover on "stilts" to negotiate the causeway even at moderately high tides.

I don't mean it looked like one of those daft, pseudo tractor-racing things with jacked-up suspension and over-sized wheels, but as I recall seeing it in the 1980s, the car was on a substantial steel frame a few feet high above the wheels and specially-built transmission.

@ArishMell Burgh Island it's called and you may well be correct. They have used a jacked up tractor as long as I remember but they may have well used what you say prior. It's not too far from my home city so nice to visit many places across the Devon and Cornwall coastline.

@Perry1968 Thankyou!

My visit was in the 1980s.

We'd detoured from the main road on our way home from a day in Devon, to look for somewhere to eat. We found the buildings opposite (If I recall the whole place correctly), a supermarket-like warehouse holding a pseudo-village so twee and false we decided its prices and food quality would match, so scuttled off to find a real pub serving meals!

I live in the county next door - Dorset - so lots of lovely scenery to explore there as well.
