Not quite the same thing but last week I had “Hell’s itch” (really bad itching from sunburn) and my brother (who has medical training) recommended Goldbond medicated lotion. It helped A LOT.

Vinegar. Aloe Vera. Baking soda (make a paste with water). Antihistamine like Benadryl for the itch. Or Benadryl cream.
