@Melpomene Well there's that, too. I should check now, I wonder if there's been statistics that breakups go up before and after Valentine's day, but that's certainly been my experience. People want to be able to receive Valentine's from "all potential suitors" during Valentine's, while others want to enjoy the experience from someone "steady" and then go experimenting after that. To say nothing of unmet (possibly unrealistic) expectations, or just looking for an excuse. In any case, it seems to be just misery all around.

Sometimes it just doesn't look fair that people around me spend most of their time in a relationship, making happy memories and having someone by their side while this chick here (me) can't even date someone she doesn't feel attracted to at all or finds love because she always falls for the wrong person. I'm usually not this desperate but all these hearts and sweet couples around me just remind me how I'm officially gonna be a cat lady in 10-15 years. 🥰
