They can't just shoot you they need a.reason
@lostinlife sort of. They can't LEGALLY shoot you without a reason. But frightened cops do sometimes ILLEGALLY shoot people without sufficient reason.

No. Thankfully the police here treat people with respect

I definitely get nervous when I see them while I’m driving but I’m not afraid for my life. They’re just people and there are some bad apples of course. Just gotta keep your hands on the wheel, be respectful, don’t argue, no quick movements and if you have a problem take it to court.
No I have never had a problem even when I was in the wrong.

They intimidate me
They can only legally shoot you if it is justified.

Otherwise if they shoot you it is illegal.

I presume that you are talking about the police in the US.
hunkalove · 70-79, M
@SensibleJulie They can do whatever they want.
BlueRain · 51-55, F
not true lol
@BlueRain Yes it is. If a police shooting isn't justified then it is illegal. And there have been cases where American courts have held cops to account for illegal shootings. Though I have to admit there have been cases where courts have failed to hold cops accountable for illegal shootings. Usually due to the same rules of law and burden of proof that protect non-cops.

Bullies behind a badge with a license to kill!
hunkalove · 70-79, M
@BlueRain I was once robbed at gunpoint and the mugger was more polite than the cops.
BlueRain · 51-55, F
that makes no sense. Did the mugger mug you or did the cops?
hunkalove · 70-79, M
@BlueRain I felt more mugged by the cops. I reported them and I was asked if I wanted to file a complaint. I said I knew better than to mess with the police and let it go.

Last summer the cops caught some kids hiding in the neighbor across the alley's backyard and I couldn't believe the foul language the cops were screaming at them. Again, I was tempted to complain but I didn't want to get beat up or shot.

Yes, especially since they've been militarizing the police of late. That shit seriously needs to stop.
