Losing looks, failing health, over populated hospitals and nursing homes and more prone to abuse and vulnerability. Saying all that losing looks is not that serious it happens to everyone eventually it has no issues attached to it. I also see nothing wrong with getting older, you have worked hard all your life, you're richer and now you can enjoy life and the grandkids. That's if you're lucky.

@offingg I did not say we're worse when we get older. Quite the opposite, in fact I'm about the only that commented here stating that getting older has its perks as well. I said we lose our looks when we get older not that we turn ugly or repulsive.

I think it has a lot to do with modern society's emphasis on appearing youthful. The older a person looks the less appealing the person is. Although, I think the older generations have propagated this idea.
