Just look at how often your bank claims it requires you to have a particular software update...again because of security concerns.

And this dominance of Zuckerberg on social media or Bezos at Amazon. Cornering markets with no competitors to keep them honest.

Or these programs writing students essays or cv's for jobs.
New vehicles that require manufacturer/main dealer only maintenance. So you've no choice in who you give your business to much less what data you don't know about being potentially accessed (conversations being recorded ? Isn't that what customers call a data breach ?....data centres ?)

Tried looking for your favourites in terms of music or movies or books lately ?
No video stores or record shops or flea markets to be able to try and find a copy. And even if you did, where are you supposed to get spare parts for your now ageing equipment that you're watching/listening to it on ?

And 'Smart glasses' are just the latest 'trial run' probably for accessing your unique retina pattern since passwords; fingerprints and voice activation have all been proven to be all be potentially corruptible.
