I Love Reading Books

I've been picking out free Kindle books lately, and I learned that the free book I'm currently reading is free because is was self-published. In fact, that author's other two books are also free. It's about high school students, so I thought I could still be young enough (21) to enjoy a casual high school novel. Maybe it's just me, but I'm not to crazy for how limited the vocabulary is in this book. The author uses the word "said" either before or after every quotation. He never switches it up to something else, like "stated" or "exclaimed" or "replied" or even "asked." And I've noticed a few errors in punctuation, such as a missing quotation mark, and there are several cases of missing commas as well as some proper nouns that weren't capitalized. The only reason I'm still reading it is because it's fairly short and I like the overall plot.

Selfpublishing without editorial oversight leads to that sort of thing, quite a lot, sadly

So true.
