Anyone have any experience with Pseudo gout ?

My mother has been in a lot of pain having been diagnosed with this condition.
The doctor had to read up on it himself before consulting on a method of treatment.
It seems, shy of having your kneecap lifted and the cartilage replaced there's little they can do.
At 73 they're unwilling to consider anything else at this stage.

She recently received a letter from the hospital who want to do a scan and an x-ray.
It's hard watching folk you care about in pain knowing physicians seem reluctant to go beyond the basics.
But i think you might be right about getting second opinion.

Maybe you should consult another doc? It's treated like gout, with nsaids and allopurinol according to american books.
