Why do people sometimes use "hun" when talking to people? Is it supposed to be nice? Like what's the purpose?

They've discovered the person is a descendant of Attila the Hun. At least that's what I always figured!
It is the short form of Honey, an essence extruded from female genitalia during arousal. ;)

I believe people think they're being nice but I hate being called hun or dear.

The Dutch word "hun" means "their". So here it's quite common. 🤓
