Legally, the teacher's position of authority over the student supersedes the age of consent in most places.

Of course not. 18 may be legal but it's certainly not the age of wisdom (or reason). The power differential between student and teacher is so out of balance and you know NOTHING ever stays a secret.

Zonus ... as a college prof I must say ... these lady students are quite clever and imaginative ... they have followed me skiing, stole my car keys, invented a flat tire, showed up at my bedroom door at 1 am, showed up at my house for breakfast, at 6 am, showed up when I was out dancing, asked me for dates, held a party for me ... and kidnapped me.

They were all 21 or older ... each a beauty.

Not sleeping with these beauties was one of the most difficult tasks I have ever tackled.

Yes, it's still wrong. If a teacher is using their position of power in order to seek out and seduce impressionable young people that is absolutely wrong.

In uk it's illegal due to the conflict of interests, ie the teacher has a position of authority therefore it is difficult to determine if it is abuse of that or not

In college, it happens. More often, you hear it's the male professor. The power differential is off. Unethical but it happens.

just because someone becomes "legal" does not mean they will automatically be able to make good choices. The teacher has to say NO

If they're a legal adult then yeah... If they're a kid then no. I would feel more comfortable thought if the teacher student relationship is at a university or college though.
