I Wish Things Were Simpler

Things have never been simple for me, though if I really put myself to it, that's really how I want it. Simple would be boring and uneventful, no? When things get complicated, I yearn for the simple moments, free of conflict and free of complex emotion.

But I'm at the point right now where things have become so unwieldy that I can't keep track of what I even feel anymore.

Life will be worth living only if emotions are mixed. It's not interesting if everything is simple and easy

@Wisegirl: Agreed. It's easy to forget how unsatisfactory simple and easy actually is.

But when the tough times come, simplifying helps get us through them. *hug*
Life IS complex.
Each with their own "package".

Today, you have purchased a ticket as you enter the Cabaret Theater in your town.

But today, you will be watching a movie. You have been told at the ticket counter that you are the Star in the movie that you will watch. Your name is suddenly lit up in lights on the marquis outside the movie theater. You are not participating in the script right now, not this time around, but you are watching yourself in 'action' when you did once participate when the movie was first made very long ago.

But it all seems like it's happening 'right now'. Everything seems so real. But then again, look over your shoulder and look up a the ceiling of the cabaret theater and you will see the light of the projector shining on the giant white screen in front of you ...and you see the profile of a man behind the projector, smoking a cigarette who is the man who also runs the projector as his cigarette smoke mixes with the light shining onto the white screen.

That man smoking behind the projector knows it's a movie, because he shows up every day to work the projector. He also knows how the movie turned out today because he has seen you act out your parts on the big screen a thousand times before, exactly the same way each time. Every move you make is etched right into each frame of the movie film and no part every changes.

The script never changed either, the actors played their role and you ALWAYS stood at the doorway alone, the doorway which leads into the attic as the music gets louder and louder as the tension increases with each heart beat of the audience...

And right on cue, you SCREAM.. AHHHHH!!!! ..just as the blackened attic door opens up ...and a dozen disease-infested bats flew out toward you, just like it happened the last time the movie was played.

You always screamed at precisely the same time and at precisely the same place in the movie ..and the same dozen bats always flew their same path out toward you, grazing your hair lightly, yet almost becoming entangled every time the movie is played.

But right now as you sit in the audience, you are watching yourself in 'action' on the big screen, as you watch yourself standing in front of the doorway that leads to the attic... and the door is about to open ...and once again the music is getting louder and louder as the tension builds wildly....

But then, the projector man suddenly throws the house lights on bright, lighting up all the seats in the theater because it's intermission time now! He makes an announcement, you've got 15 minutes!

Now, GO!!! Get some popcorn! Stop for a quick pee..!! But hurry back and don't you dare miss the next part where the blackened attic door starts to open up as the hinges begin to creak, because the screenplay is SO unwieldy, that you won't be able to keep track of any of it if you miss even a single, tiny part in the middle!

So put your knees up against the chair in front of you when you return to your seat! And I hate to spoil the end of your movie for you, but you already have an 'intuitive knowing' of what lies inside the darkened attic! You have 'acted' that part before and now you are watching it being played-out on the big screen! You already know what happened next!

Just remember... Life is a cabaret old chum, life is a cabaret..!

@swirlie: Whoa. I just saw this. I always wanted to be a cabaret singer!

@Fallflower:

Well, there you go! I rubbed the lamp and the Genee made you a cabaret singer!
