I think smart men tend to go for smart women and wise men go for character. Good looks aren't exclusive to either of those things. They're just not the driving force.

@plungesponge: The question related to "smart" men. I added "wise." Looks are typically, but not always, the driving force for dudes who are shallow,insecure or who don't bring much to the table. But I also said looks aren't exclusive. People can be really good looking and really smart. But because of how our society operates, and the importance we place on looks, a lot of really hot women (more than good looking men) haven't needed to develop other parts of their personality. Maybe this isn't your experience but I've dated really hot women and they don't hold my interest. Looks fade. Character and intelligence doesn't.
