I Have Good Hearing

I am grateful for my hearing. I was talking to a really nice friend who is blind. He wasn't born that way, he had a TBI that caused it. Anywho, I was asking him about changes in his hearing because of the loss of his vision. He said "no, your hearing doesn't get better per se, but you depend on it more so to others it seems your hearing is more acute when it's not." It made me wonder, were I to be in his shoes for a while, could I function as well as he does? I think with time I could, but as it would be hard, and probably painful, (I'm accident prone as is, and I don't imagine that'd improve blind!) but yes, I'd adapt. Oh and I learned more about Braille than I ever knew before! Interesting!!
