What would you like a second chance at?

Tatsumi · 31-35, M
Life. I'd really like to have my consciousness thrown back thrown back in time and into my 14 year old body, before shit got bad. If I could do everything all over again, I know I could make it work this time. Alas.

Retirement. I want to go back to work and then try it again. I really messed it up.

How did you mess it up?

@HalfCactus: I made a terrible investment mistake, the single worst decision of my life, and lost a lot of money I'd saved. I retired and because I was a teacher, I lost almost all my Social Security (it's a bad law that was passed while I was working). So I retired very poor. Then, probably due to the stress, I got very sick with some bad infections that put me in the hospital twice, followed by going nearly blind and needing eye surgeries, another infection took my hearing, a car accident took my driver's license (I was driving in a state of fevered delirium trying to get to a doctor appointment) for 8 months, had a few tough tooth extractions, an accident that kept me from walking for a couple of months..and I lost all ability and interest in my retirement dreams of travel and camping! Then I got illegally evicted from my apartment...Sigh...

Now I'm trying to recover while living in one rented room out in the desert. I am doing well and recovering very,very slowly. I now have my vision, my driver's license, half my hearing's come back, I'm walking, swimming etc

My ambition is to get well and strong enough to go to work long enough in the private sector to get my Social Security money back...and then retire again with enough money, my health and some happiness!

I apologize for such a long post!

Actually nothing. What's gone is gone. I'd like to focus more on what's coming next and give it my best.

That's all we can do, but it doesn't stop the ghosts of the past from haunting us still

@HalfCactus: I let the ghosts of the past walk with me, after all they contribute in making me who I am now, but I'd not like to relive them again.

Not too many things but then there's always something if I think long and hard about it.

@HalfCactus: A warning would've been cool!

There's no such thing as second chances.
I just wanna move forward.
