why is my 1st grade friend so slow in running? i myself am faster than him

yes when i was running he was running behind me for candies but he wasnt able to catch me and he got tied. then i stopped and gave him candies. i am myself very slow in running but he is even more slower. i never make fun of him for that because he is my friend. but he wont be able to protect himself if a 4th grader attacks him because a 4th grader is faster than me itself in running. but still i will support my friend and make him run fast
