I Want to Write a Book

I've been trying to write a book for a year now and I'm just plain stuck. I don't know if I should try to rewrite it, trash it, start a new project or do some brainstorming. It's driving me nuts. Writing a book is always something I've wanted to do and it's way harder than I thought it would be. Does anyone have any advice for me?

If it needs a lot of editing it is better just to start over. It is hard to let go sometimes though, if you have a lot of time in it.
Everything gets edited to some extent. I usually go through about 4 times.

In terms of creativity, I think that being a good writer is as difficult as being a good painter. Keep at it ... your skills will improve.
