Why are people in the work force so brutally honest?

This lady I was talking to earlier today was explaining about the costs to get a root canal. The down payment is $550 total. I asked her what happens if I am unable to do the payment. She was like, "Ok I'm going to be very blunt with you. Since you're now telling me that you won't be about to pay for the treatment, I don't even know why I'm even bothering telling you all this at all. There's no point in telling you this. Don't say that you can pay it and then tell me you can't. You're just going to waste mine and everone else's time." I got quiet after this. Is told her let me talk to my parents about it and I'll come back either tonight and if not, tomorrow. I cried after I hung out.
