Obama was attempting to be conciliatory and work together with the Republicans. He should have just said fuck it, and pushed through everything he could.

Congress exempted themselves, not Obama. And your attitudes towards people less fortunate than you are deplorable.

This is a serious issue. In the US, there isn't a single state where a person working full-time for minimum wage can even afford to rent a one bedroom apartment. Yet we look at people working 40+ hours a week and decide that they are somehow lazy and deserve to suffer.

@Laifu1: What's your minimum wage where you live? In Britain it's £7.20.

@tynamite: Same here, but in dollars, so a bit less than there. But we also get to pay for things like healthcare.
