On Inauguration Day I will Stand

I will defy lightning to strike me
Looking heavenward
Asking How?
Asking Why?

I will look Heavenward
And I will stand
With Women
With Muslims
With Mexicans
With Disabled Reporters
With duped Voters
With Scientists
With the Ethical Elected
With Families of the Fallen
With any Citizen who expresses their right to free speech
With Republicans who oppose this tyrant
With Democrats rebuilding
With Black Lives Matter
With Your Life that Matters. One is not minimized by embracing the other.
With Refugees looking to leave behind the Hatred they have escaped.
With Americans everywhere whose allure in reality TV becomes a lesson learned in lessons learned. And oh, we will learn hard those lessons.
With Children who deserve so much better from the rest of us
With those who long for respectful discourse.

On Inauguration Day I Will Stand
Defying Lightning to Strike
There may be tears in my eyes
But I will stand

And I will look forward
Looking Heavenward
To the Sun breaking through
One mind, one voter at a time.
