What is the purpose of hiding your online status?

I hide mine because I was starting to feel stalked by people who would message me as soon as they saw I was online.

Pervs will message you when ur on to make sure you got their message and some petty peeps will ask you why you are't responding 24/7

*shrug* Sometimes I like to lurk in peace and read things people post without interacting.

1) It's what I want to do. No substantial reasoning behind it.
2) I love the option
