Is the animal endangered?

It depends. We typically think of the value of life in terms of personhood, and personhood has been debated about for millennia. Is a brain-dead vegetable of a person worth the same as a loving, intelligent pet dog? What if it's your dog? Or if it was someone close to you that was comatose? Think about the abortion debate too.

As for me, I think personhood operates on a subjective scale. People we know are more important to us than strangers, adults are worth more to us than fetuses, etc. So honestly, the answer depends on which human and which animal we're talking about.

I do think humans and animals are of equal value.
All things being equal I'd save a human. Animals don't fear death. People do.

I suppose you would have to stay loyal to your own species first . However if the animal is endangered that causes a bit of a puzzle 😕Another thing what if the human is a terrible person who does more harm that good and the animal is sweet , innocent and will bring happiness into the world ? It seems like an easy question at first , before you look deeper into it .
