John Hinckley Jr. was a bit of a underachiever, kind of a nobody.
He watched a movie with a young actress in it, the actress's name was Jodie Foster.
John Hinckley became a bit obsessed with young Jodie Foster.
Began writing her a lot of letters, sending her little recording of love songs he had written strumming on his guitar.
She ignored him.
He wrote to her saying, if you keep ignoring me i am going to do something you cannot ignore, an act of love that nobody who wasn't truely in love would do. i am going to shoot the president of the United States of America.
After his trial Hinkley wrote and i quote what he had done was "the greatest love offering in the history of the world" and was disappointed that Foster did not reciprocate his love

He was mentally insane. I'm sure Sanare is not referencing that type of love.

1) I have often heard it said that love is a kind of insanity.
2) Was he?, I mean even during the trial that claim was pretty sketchy and a lot of neurologists and psychiatrists said that the evidence put forward to support his insanity defence were pretty flimsy

Sometimes you can love the wrong person or that love can be misguided. Not all acts of love are necessarily good.
