Thoughts about closed borders?

And would you be willing that US govt grant citizenships to illegal immigrants living for 10-20 years but no history of crime?

Why do we accept on a daily basis the probability that people commit minor traffic infractions, take supplies from work, look for tax loopholes, and do other things that earn us a nudge back to the straight and narrow, but someone born 1600 miles away is expected to live the equivalent of a lifetime with absolutely no crime or infraction?

In the meantime, we turn away doctors, scientists, teachers, theologians, artists, good parents, and scores of others who could become these things. We see hundreds of families with no home, no possessions, no safety and no immediate future and tell them we don't care enough about facts and mercy.

No, we don't need wide open, unchecked borders. We also don't need to cut ourselves off from the world.

[c=#4C0073]They don't see things that way. They do it to citizens. The idiots of the country feels that only Caucasians are deserving of a pass. They label Black, latino, or Asian teens who are struggling with their identity thugs; yet, white teens with the same issues are "just in their rebellious phase." They called New Orleanians, who were displaced after Katrina, refugees in their own country. Any person of color who commits a heinous crime is a terrorist, but Caucasians who comit the same crimes are "mentally unstable." They only value a certain kind of person. All others they consider worthless or a hinderance. [/c]

@VioletRayne: You're right. What they don't realize is that different does not mean deficient.

I'd be curious why it would take someone that long to become a citizen.
