why does the US government think of Russia as a major threat ?

because the usa needs ot ahve a enemy all the time, so they can tell their citizens what to do

Maybe because they just annexed the Crimea and are participating in the division and civil war in the Ukraine and seem to be trying to re-establish the Eastern European hegemony they had after the second world war....by force of arms.

That ought to be threatening, at the very least, to the allies in the newly freed Eastern European republics. Seeing how the U.S.A. is allied to most of those countries it isn't much of a stretch to see a threat there.

That depends a lot upon who in the US gov't you're talking about. Historically, republicans tended to view Russia as the boogie man. Now, the democrats seem to have the boogie man virus. Times are changing.

Because this is what many brainwashed people (now sore dems even more) want to hear. Now hundreds of American tanks have been deployed in Europe close to Russian borders. But they will buy anyway that it is the Russians who look for war

Good question. They weren't concerned when they hacked the WH, NASA, the IRS, and numerous other agencies in the past 10 years. But an inability to accept defeat they are determined to pin the loss on someone other than the shitty candidate offered.

Russia is a broken country, and has been for a long time. I doubt they were ever much of a threat to anyone but themselves, after WWII. Enemies make life more meaningful and real.

Because they are, it's just the democrats are a little late to show up for the party, and came for the wrong reason.
