Traditionally the local newspaper and local TV news was the source of information.
It seems everything has become very globalized.
Some willingly choose intentionally biased sources for ready acceptance.
What do you think qualifies for the Truth?
SW-User
reddit mostly. German TV news are retarded and either talk about unimportant stuff, or America. Neither or which interest me.
SW-User
It hasn't let me down so far.

I used to use Reddit quite a lot, until I got sick of the Fight Club atmosphere. That just ain't me.
SW-User
Yeah I dunno what's wrong with some people there. I tend to stay off the comments most times.

Where's the Twitter option? For live breaking news I don't think there's a better or more widely followed news source.

Your last answer on a previous post intrigued me. It is part of the reason I made the Post.
I love when I get specific sites.

@NearMiss: Anyone that has the boldness to get specific whether I agree with them or not; gets my respect!
i start with the metro to keep it light, bbc, independent, gaurdian, then RT russian news.
Depends, you need to look at stories from all the perspectives you can to root out the crap usually.
Pfuzylogic · M
@crossproduct: What sources are you wary of?
SW-User
@Pfuzylogic: Well, I've been disappointed by pretty much all of them at one point or another. Once the patterns are visible, it's quite dismaying.
Pfuzylogic · M
@crossproduct: There was a time when CNN was beyond reproach but I have to agree that those days are gone.

@Pfuzylogic: it is but it is also essential.

@ladycae: Please continue. What is the essential nature to you?

because if you want to be informed you need to do your homework. back in Walter Cronkite days you could , whether worthy or not, trust your news. but now with so much fake news and left vs right you need to read a wide version of what is out there and use your common sense. the truth as with most things is usually in the middle. i remember reading about trumps child rape case. it was on only one news source. i didn't trust it at the time because no one else reported it. so i sat on it and watched and then boom about 3 weeks later it was every where and i was able to find the court dockets etc. yes it's work. but no body ever said life was easy. i prefer to be as informed as possible especially now when we don't know what the future holds.so i do the necessary work just to keep on top of things. way to much these days is taken at truth because somebody told someone something they read somewhere and soon it is taken for gospel. i think 2/3 of all the political disagreements were simply based on incorrect info and people not being willing to dig for truth.

There is no truth in the corporate news media. I start my day with google news and follow up from there. I get the major news websites and others. Our only newspaper here for local stuff, and it's not very good.
Pfuzylogic · M
Do you have preferred news websites?
hunkalove · 61-69, M
@Pfuzylogic: The major ones, though I don't trust them. I like Huffington Post, for my kind of thinking.
ExploreroftheUnknown · 26-30, M
I watch just about anything, but always do my own research on topics that interest me. I don't like hearing one-sided views. Always like to hear the full story.
Pfuzylogic · M
So you need many sources.
ExploreroftheUnknown · 26-30, M
@Pfuzylogic: yeppers (:
Pfuzylogic · M
@ExploreroftheUnknown: Do you share specifically the sources you trust?
Rickichickie · 56-60, F
To be honest? I trust nobody. They are all cooking their own soup as we say in Germany.
Rickichickie · 56-60, F
@Pfuzylogic: I try to get info via YouTube
Pfuzylogic · M
@Rickichickie: anything in particular that you subscribe to ?
Rickichickie · 56-60, F
Oliver Janich but he speaks German.
3venus · F
NBC, PBS, and I have an RSS feed for news websites that I get three times a day.
3venus · F
@Pfuzylogic: Here are a few:

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/

https://news.vice.com

https://news.google.com/#0

I also use an app called SmartNews. You can customize your news feed, and set up alerts.
Pfuzylogic · M
@3venus: Thank you! For me a personally customized perspective is what it is all about.
3venus · F
@Pfuzylogic: You're welcome. Yeah, I like having the ability to weed out the nonsense.

It can get scary when it comes to getting the REAL news?! 😱
Pfuzylogic · M
That is why I posted this.
Sources of mews has changed.
I do want to see how others scrutinize these sources to create their Point of View.
There was a time that I implicitly trusted CNN
(1990s).

This election found me questioning between facts and the manipulation of the News for personal gains of the source. My views tend to be on the left for many issues but I don't like to be affected by a source too strongly biased.
I would say now I lean towards PBS as my Rock but open to other sources.
Peaches · F
I often wonder when the day will come that we get the REAL news on many things kept from us?! 🙁
Pfuzylogic · M
@sweetpea: The drive for profit compromises this. I still trust the PBS Newshour but we just lost Gwen Ifill a very important anchor for News. I did trust in her integrity.
SW-User
I check politico besides NYT, washington post.
Pfuzylogic · M
Politico, is that a web site? I know the other two as newspapers!
SW-User
@Pfuzylogic: yes it's a well known news site.
