My aunt had a little bird once but since it made a lot of noise she would put it in her closet with a towel over the cage then one time she forget it in there for like two weeks and it died
AnonymousJSS22-25, F
Ikr. She would give me all her pets when she didn't want them anymore.

keep it out of the cage 馃槓
SerenitreeF
Why?

Allowing a bird some freedom is good. They do need exercise, but keeping them out of the cage is not a good idea. They have their food, water,,gravel, and toys in the cage. They are in danger outside the cage if there happen to be ceiling fans or open windows, or even nice clean closed windows. If a person is going to have an animal of any sort, it isn't unkind to do whatever it takes to keep it safe.

Most return to their cages voluntarily. They feel safe

He loves his cage, but he loves to be out too. I don't clip his wings so he can fly all over the house when I let him out. He loves to take showers with me too. 馃槉
He gets plenty of time outside the cage. He's a very happy little guy.
SerenitreeF
I never clipped my birds' wings either. I just made sure there were never any ceiling fans on when they were out. And windows were covered so they couldn't think it was blank space and fly into them. But the cage doors were open so they could go back inside whenever they wished.
