Do the musicians, who are spoiling the Grammys, think their political antics will turn one undecided American against Trump?

I watched about 3 minutes of it before it started to annoy me.
I had forgotten how this was going to down. I made it through five minutes. Yes, yes --they have a first amendment right to do this as everyone always piously says (which only means that the government can not arrest them or suppress their speech) -- but it is not very entertaining and does not do one thing to further their cause, which is to convince any undecided Americans of the error their ways or convert Trumpians to Katie Perry's band of "Resisters"

@beckychandler: I dont remember such political blah blah at award shows.
@Oddnelly: Not to this extent-- crazy

They're just patting themselves on their own backs for the sake of their bubble dwellers.

It's a liberty for Americans to have the freedom of speech; not just musicians, but all Americans. So if it's spoiling it for you, I suggest you not watch.

Hmmmmm does that apply ta that gay dude in burkley

@Goralski: Not sure who you're referring to, but yes, it would.
I realize I am repeating myself, but so is this first amendment mantra ( I have great respect for the first amendment by the way -- when I practiced law a great deal of my work involved the first amendment):

people always complain about celebrities never using their influence to speak out for anything important, and when they do it's not good enough because it isn't aligned perfectly with their own beliefs and expectations lmao

@Sicarium: like totally? that's cool. How about if I like your profile pic, always think its a good one when I see it.

People have been using awards ceremonies as a stage for political protest for as long as these ceremonies have been around.
you are absolutely right --and it has always been boring.

If these "special" people kept it about the music, the Grammys would be watchable. Why TF does everything have to be political or racial? Give it a fkn break!

Music is an art, it's all about expression. You think they're not going to do it?
IlovePeaches · 22-25, F
actually a good point... trump followers are like a cult and immune to facts.
I'm not watching them are they making speeches against him?
Flenflyys · 31-35, F
They're pretty arrogant, so probably
Doesn't really matter. They may be musicians, but they're also Americans, exercising their First Amendment Rights. And I know they've probably gotten a few folks thinking---that's why the right gets so upset whenever they speak.
@beckychandler: That's right. So you can express your displeasure by choosing not to watch the show and not listening to or buying the artists' music.
@bijouxbroussard: and I did. And then, knowing I would not be arrested for doing so, expressed my opinion that it is not very entertaining and does not further the goal they presumably are seeking. A bunch of rappers and Katie Perry whining about Trump is not going to change the mind of a single ordinary American in Flyover Zone. But I really don't care if they are wasting their time, but if they are spoiling my entertainment I do.
@beckychandler: You assume it changes no minds, but do you really know that for certain ? Were you annoyed at Joy Villa's "Trump" dress ? Or isn't it just when you disagree ?
