Man creatod God, in his own image.
Is it any wonder, that God is alot like the authors that write about him? God is a character, infused with the values of those who wrote about him.
The 2nd commandment maybe a warning against idolatry. But idolatry is the very essence of the monotheistic religions. Idolatry of the men who created God, idolatry of the image of the God they've created. This image needn't literally be a visual image.

The MetaGod, and he in turn created by the MetaMetaGod, created in turn by the MetaMetaMetaGod and so on. Think of the MetaGod as sort of like the Father God, MetaMetaGod as Grandfather God, and so on.

I have thought this in the past, I was told that God was always there from the start. Suppose this is possible but things like this are beyond our understanding.
