Honest question. Did Jesus die for everyones sin, before and after his crucifixion? If so, wouldnt that mean that everybodys sin is automatically forgiven?

@LadyGrace thank you for your answer, and I apologize if my questions seem belligerent, that is not my intent; i am simply ignorant and curious.

It seems to me, that if Jesus Christ died to forgive our sins (as you stated "...forgiveness of our sins, that comes through Jesus’s death and resurrection..."), forgiving sins in the past, and the future, would that not mean that every sin that will ever be committed has already been forgiven by God? Alternatively, are you saying that regardless of the weight of the sin, if an individual does not accept Jesus Christ as their lord and Saviour, that they will be condemned to eternal damnation regardless of whether they have sinned?
@Moosepantspatty I will have to answer this later, dear. I’ve got company. Hugs
First, I want to say, questions are welcome all the time. I’m happy you wrote. Never hesitate to ask questions. They are all important.

It seems to me, that if Jesus Christ died to forgive our sins (as you stated "...forgiveness of our sins, that comes through Jesus’s death and resurrection..."), Correct!

forgiving sins in the past, and the future, would that not mean that every sin that will ever be committed has already been forgiven by God?

Correct... for those who have shown they want Jesus in their life, have chosen Him over any other gods, and accept Him as their Savior, asking for forgiveness of sins. He can’t erase those sins until you ask him to, because he wants to know you truly want him as your Lord and Savior. When you come of your own free will, he knows you want him in your heart and life.

Alternatively, are you saying that regardless of the weight of the sin, if an individual does not accept Jesus Christ as their lord and Saviour, that they will be condemned to eternal damnation regardless of whether they have sinned?

Our thoughts are not Gods thoughts. He does not categorise sin like humans do. To him, there is no one sin over the other. One is not greater than the other. Sin is sin, and all sin separates us from God the Father. In order to be in God’s presence, one must be free from one’s sins. If sin was allowed in heaven, then it would not be heaven, right? In fact, God the Father is so holy, He cannot even look on sin.

How then, can we erase our sins? That’s just it. We, as humans, cannot do this by ourselves, because our sins have already separated us from God. That’s why we need Jesus, God’s Son, to ask God to forgive us. This is done by owning up to our sins, and asking Jesus to forgive us of them. Jesus, being without sin, then goes to His Father in heaven, on our behalf, and tells Him you’ve asked to be forgiven, which God eagerly does, because He loves us so much. With our sins forgiven and erased by the blood of Jesus, who died for our sins, we are now prepared to live in His presence, forever. If it weren’t for Jesus, we couldn’t do that, so I am very thankful for his great sacrifice.
