It is the catch 22. They want someone who is 20 years old with 25 years experience and will work for minimum wage.

The old catch-22. I know. Its really bad, but thats one of the reasons I gave every one of my grandkids their first job. True, it was house cleaning, but I had a legitimate house cleaning business and I was then able to give them a letter of recommendation describing their work habits and reliability. Its not much, but to be able to say they had worked summers for two years and have that letter went a long way to showing motivation.

Lots of poorly paying places will hire young people: food service and hotel for example.

I hear you. I have experience and qualifications and just been knocked back for voluntary / charity work 😂 have to laugh or I may cry.
