When I was younger I'd think southern Americans were ignorant and I had no intention of visiting the south when eventually travelling to the US out of self preservation lol but now that I'm older I look at people with nuance and actually think southern people are super friendly and have a charm to them.

I have met people who could check all those boxes. Seriously.
A coworker. Big red headed guy.
And the nicest person I have ever met.

Southern people are everywhere. Akron Ohio is the capital of West Virginia

One of the more problematic stereotypes about white southerners is that they’re racist.
Those are the people I personally try to avoid and the only reason I do.

My own family’s originally from the South and fit very few of the stereotypes you mentioned. Most of them are multilingual (English, French,Creole), and well-educated. They also have access to healthcare, including dental care.
My grandfather did own a shotgun, but he came from the bayou, where people hunted.
