Yes, that's where all the old pennies will go, and since they are worthless at that point it makes it a collection.

I mean, according to US laws, it's not illegal to deface and damage US coinage like it is in the UK... and, even we don't keep every single coin ever released. Many of the old round £1 coins were melted down to make the outer rings of our current £1 and £2 coins.
