Cold Drinks! Seriously, I come to appreciate the coolness of the fridge!:) But I see also how unnatural it is... but of course such an amenity... helping to preserve foods too - I just have to eat everything I buy within a few days max, otherwise it...

Root cellars! You need one. Heck as a temporary messure use a well.

Another technique is pressure preserving. Pressure preserving really isn't that difficult.

@Boeing Sounds like you're in a low water table area if you have a cistern under the house. Don't know if a separate root cellar wouldn't eventually become another cistern. 🫤

@DeWayfarer it's a house on top of a hill, that's why, we collect the rain water. I am happy with it, as I get the mountain views :)
