I think this is profound at several levels.

Rarely do I see the beauty of the night sky. Or stand in awes if it.

The light pollution of the city lights prevents that. But there is good there too, the light of city offers us protection from intruders, and wrong doers.

@RedBaron I was referring to being out in the sticks with no city lights, moved here two years ago. Guess I could have worded it differently.
