I have this fond memory from my childhood...
I must’ve been around 10 years old. My family and I had spent the day at the farm outside the city. As we drove back home after sunset, the twilight sky was absolutely gorgeous. A brilliant blend of deep blue and rich red.
As we munched on the fruit we picked, my little sister exclaimed “The sky looks like strawberry juice!”
I said “Yes! It looks like a red sea too."
My brother chimed in “Hey, that actually exists on the map.”
That’s when my dad asked, “Did you know there’s also a Yellow Sea?”
We, the kids, went “Whoa!” as if we’d just discovered something magical.
My mom answered "Yes, it's so far away, near China."
At that moment, staring out at the colorful sky, it hit me: the world is so vast and so beautiful.
Yesterday as I was driving, the sky looked like it did on that precious
day. But, I was there on my own.
That's just life I guess.
I miss everyone and everything.
