I used to, out of shyness.
With time, I actually started to like it. It gives me time to enjoy my meal slowly. I still like eating with friends but when I have to eat alone it is not a problem anymore.
At some point you just stop caring about who is looking at you. Most people are self absorbed, anyway.

@Manfredthemanic I kind of think most people have their own issues to think about. Usually those who pay too much attention to how you look just have nothing better or more interesting to think about which is sad. Live your life the best way you can. The rest is your business, not theirs ;)
