Putin is very dangerous, but dealing with this bully has to be done carefully. Expecting rational behaviour from such a person could prove very dangerous for the West.

Maybe his plans was to sink Russia, giving a massive push to Europe's run for renewables and finally become energetically independent, get Finland and Sweden join NATO, make Orbàn, Salvini, Le Pen, et al. potentially lose their upcoming elections due to very suspect Russian sympathies (or even funds) that will certainly get a light cast on by the respective opposition parties, to reveal the new wanna-be soviet army is nothing more than a paper tiger, to remember the world what happens once you lose democracy to some wanna-be dictator like himself.
