@Strongtea = Does she cover her head?
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@Strongtea According to biblical rules for Christian women, they are supposed to cover their heads or the men are to grab them and shave their heads.

1 Corinthians 11:5-7 (CEB) ="5 Every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered disgraces her head. It is the same thing as having her head shaved. 6 If a woman doesn’t cover her head, then she should have her hair cut off. If it is disgraceful for a woman to have short hair or to be shaved, then she should keep her head covered. 7 A man shouldn’t have his head covered, because he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is man’s glory."

You won't get to heaven if you don't follow the rules!!!

@Diotrephes Hope this is satire, because it's really fucking funny

Wife? Goodness me you got married quick from before! Congrats!

Is it a Gospel preaching church not scared to talk about sin?

Looking forward to church later myself.

@BritishFailedAesthetic How do you know whether she is qualified as a priest and theologian? I know I am not. Are you?

(I do have two women friends who are ordained Anglican priests, and by invitation attended the ordination to Deacon of one of them. I had known her and her husband, and the other couple, for a long time previously in other walks of life.)

@ArishMell She is an ex hippy, and Methodist (lay) preacher. Her other sermonI heard was on Celtic Spirituality. That was a bit dubious too. She is an author, and writes books on Spirituality I avoid it!
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@peterlee Hmmm... She seems unsure what she really believes!
RachelLia2003 · 22-25, F
jesus doesnt care about brands

Strongtea · 22-25, M
Yes, but it’s nice to make an effort and look nice. @RachelLia2003
RedBaron · M
@Strongtea You’re just trying to justify your tacky behavior.
peterlee · M
Just go as you are.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
I know, but we like to look our best for church@peterlee
peterlee · M
@Strongtea In this tremendous heat. Let’s just spend some time in prayer and not worry what others think of us.
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Ok, let’s agree to that@peterlee
RedBaron · M
Appearances and designer clothes are exactly the wrong things to emphasize and put value on in what’s supposed to be a spiritual setting.

If things are what you value, why do you bother going and pretending to pray?
Strongtea · 22-25, M
It’s very important to make an effort if you can. I like how my wife wants us to look our best on a Sunday. @RedBaron
RedBaron · M
@Strongtea Yes it’s important to make an effort, but it’s not important to show off your affluence in a religious space. It’s actually quite tacky.
GoFish ·
i think you missed the point of church .. but a lot of churches themselves miss the point these days too anyway
Strongtea · 22-25, M
Pretty much all of our friendships have come from attending church. I think the way we dress there does make some people want to associate with us. Prayer and being thankful does come first but being respectfully and smartly dressed is important@GoFish

@Strongtea hmmm
RedBaron · M
@Strongtea You can rationalize any behavior you like, no matter how tacky and ostentatious.
The amount of snark you’re getting here is baffling and a double standard. Tell your wife to dress as she wants and good for her.
@RedBaron The irony is that some of the harshest judgments here are coming from people objecting to someone else’s appearance.Maybe he was showing off. Maybe he was just proud of his wife…none of us actually know. For you that feels tacky, consider that this may not be the case.
RedBaron · M
@InterdimensionalSideEye Read the post and his comments. He said they’re showing off. Do you need someone to draw you a picture?

Sorry, I don’t have the time or the crayons.
@RedBaron Wow, you’re a funny and polite man aren’t you?
