This man said no. He claims it does not help block the virus. And that you are taking safety away from the doctors and nurses. Redfield, the head of CDC says wear a mask. It reduces your risk of getting Covid-19 by 50%.
What do you think. Should people wear masks in public for now. I say yes. Comments please. 🙂

Wearing a mask in public won’t matter unless it’s an N95 with a perfect seal. There’s still debate as to whether the virus is airborne or droplet. Things that people can control are washing your hands, not touching your face, and staying home unless absolutely necessary or you’re essential personnel.

@DivinityinMotion It’s been officially confirmed here that the virus IS airborne as well as droplet & ANY mask is better than none.

@DivinityinMotion That's not what the CDC director said. 🤔
DivinityinMotion · 31-35, F
@BalmyNites Yes, any mask is better than none, but the seal is necessary when there are airborne precautions in place.
BalmyNites · F
@DivinityinMotion Let me explain it for you - if a mask with a less than perfect seal provides a 50% less chance of being infected, then it’s not rocket science to wear it 😊

*I suspect you meant to say airborne particles*

@Zonuss From the CDC guidelines (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/prevention.html)

Wear a facemask if you are sick
If you are sick: You should wear a facemask when you are around other people (e.g., sharing a room or vehicle) and before you enter a healthcare provider’s office. If you are not able to wear a facemask (for example, because it causes trouble breathing), then you should do your best to cover your coughs and sneezes, and people who are caring for you should wear a facemask if they enter your room. Learn what to do if you are sick.
If you are NOT sick: You do not need to wear a facemask unless you are caring for someone who is sick (and they are not able to wear a facemask). Facemasks may be in short supply and they should be saved for caregivers.

@DivinityinMotion Wrong. The CDC director says this will reduce the risk of you catching the virus from.someone who may be carrying the virus in the first place. It's common sense. 🙂
BalmyNites · F
@Zonuss You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink 😉😊
DivinityinMotion · 31-35, F
@BalmyNites It’s obvious that 50% protection is better than 0%. I am only speaking on the limitations of surgical masks vs N95 masks.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
@BalmyNites I agree. These obstructionist bastards. 🙂
BalmyNites · F
@DivinityinMotion No, you said:
Wearing a mask in public won’t matter unless it’s an N95 with a perfect seal
I disagree, any opportunity to increase your chances of safeguarding yourself against infection is better than none - it’s simple maths 😊
BalmyNites · F
@Zonuss Darwin said the idiots would bring about their own demise 😁
DivinityinMotion · 31-35, F
@BalmyNites And your best chance of safeguarding is to stay home.
BalmyNites · F
@DivinityinMotion That is a tangent, we were discussing the issue of wearing a mask in public

Your best chance of not looking like a fool is to remain silent (Oscar Wilde) 😊
DivinityinMotion · 31-35, F
@BalmyNites It’d be nice if you could discuss things without throwing in your cute little insults, but I suppose that would be too much to ask.

My final stance on masks in public: save them for healthcare workers who will need them more to take care of patients.
BalmyNites · F
@DivinityinMotion I know the truth hurts sweetheart, but never mind 😁
DivinityinMotion · 31-35, F
@BalmyNites Sure, whatever makes you sleep at night, dear. But remember that it’s the selfish people like you fussing about wearing masks and gloves in public that are stealing life saving resources from healthcare workers. The public does not need masks. They need to stay home.
BalmyNites · F
@DivinityinMotion No, it’s the ignoramuses such as yourself which represent a far greater danger to society. You judge me on wearing & advocating a mask, yet you know nothing about me. May I suggest you go forth & educate yourself, because as I said, your thick & arrogant stance will bring about your own downfall 😉
DivinityinMotion · 31-35, F
@BalmyNites I’m a danger to society? Cool. I work in healthcare and I’ve spent the past few weeks caring for patients who are positive for COVID. You don’t know the struggles we’ve gone through to get proper PPE in our hospital. Meanwhile idiots like you are skipping around outside flashing your masks and gloves just because you can. Why? How hard is it for people to understand that you need to limit all unnecessary exposure? I disagree, it’s people like you who will both directly and indirectly cause more deaths. And if you’re committed to standing by your statements, fine, whatever. I’m not going to change your mind. But I absolutely refuse to have you talk down to me. I’m putting my life on the line to treat and care for my patients.
BalmyNites · F
@DivinityinMotion I actually have no regard for your statement, as you are rude & judgemental towards those you don’t know/know nothing about. For your information, I have been ill with respiratory/chest infection, pneumonia & a cracked rib for the past 3 months. Not that this is any of your business & you have no right to know, however I am simply highlighting your idiotic judgemental attitude. You’re a nurse? IF that is true (which I doubt), I’m just thankful I will never have to be tended to by the likes of you. No further comment is required, nor will it be responded to - as I don’t converse with 💩💩
DivinityinMotion · 31-35, F
@BalmyNites I never said I was a nurse. And you’ve made plenty of assumptions about me from the start. So honestly, no need to feign the moral high ground, especially when you were the one to start with the coy insults. I don’t need your validation and I certainly don’t care about your personal ailments. I said what I said.
