I think the saddest part is that sometimes the heart has so much love to give, yet nowhere for it to go. And perhaps the loneliest feeling of all is not loving someone who isn't there, but having all that love, tenderness and longing within you, with no certainty that it will ever have somewhere to belong. I don't think that makes someone foolish or unstable. I think it makes them painfully human 💔

That’s the painful realization when you find yourself in that situation. It’s not like you could just transfer all that emotion to another person who is accessible and physically/emotionally available. Our feelings for people don’t work that way.

@CookieCrumbs Exactly. Somehow it's all a bit too unreal and no-one is actually talking about that. Reactions go from "don't be a fool" to "I'm here". Never somone is giving advice how to be less in a loop. It's not a hole but a loop of doing oneself in emotionally.

Lakeshore Promenade (Lungolago di Lugano) in Lugano, Switzerland. Perfect place to fall in love.

@eMortal Is that from experience?

I do that every day since my wife had to go into a memory care facility because we could no longer care for her at home. In a way her memory and personality still lives here in the house we shared for almost 45 years, but at the same time her absence is obvious and painful.

@ChipmunkErnie You don't need to feel any guilt. My dad is doing fine still at home. There are routines in place that he keeps on doing. But now and then he forgets. This year he forgets to get the newspaper out of the letterbox. I can't explain what's going on but I try to do the necessary

@val70 After several falls in a couple of weeks, the last needing an ambulance and the hospital, it was obvious we just couldn't care fore her at ho,me any more. Never knew when she'd wander out of the house -- she just loved to go out and walk down the front walk and down to the end of the driveway, and then back. But she might do it at 3:00 a.m., might do it in the rain in just her pyjamas.

@ChipmunkErnie I know. I remember your previous postings. Try to look after yourself. My counselor is complaining that I not doing that enough. Sadly, I have still several issues that trouble me enormously.
Long distance relationships are definitely hard.
It may not be sustainable for the long term. But is it worth the risk, or the experience of sharing that with the person? It could be. You just have to be ready for its share of heartaches too.

Never invest too much in a long distance relationship. You could be on the phone with her/him while someone else is taking care of business. Awful.
