@Orca4950 No he doesnt have his own residence. I am renting. He can stay with his mom if he wants but his job is across the street. He has no car but I do.

so when you change the locks he will need to commute from moms or his own place.
An ex an I had discussed this and both of us felt that privacy of your own place as an adult even in a relationship is healthy for the relationship.
The "honest" way would be to have that conversation which you probably have had, that he finds his own place.
tell him which you have done, that you need and want the privacy and security of your own place.
if he needs "time" give him limited time.
