Of course, as others have said, she gave him the medal, not the prize, because that is not hers to give.
@FreddieUK True.

There's a minor misunderstanding, but the actual story is even more remarkable. George de Hevesy got his Nobel in 1943, but in 1940, Max von Laue and James Franck, who lived in Germany, sent him their gold Nobel medals so he can hide them (he lived in Denmark at the time and worked at the Bohr institute).

So he dissolved the medals in a mix of nitric and hydrochloric acids, and stored the peach/orange liquid in a jar on a shelf in the laboratory. George de Hevesy fled to Sweden in 1943.

He came back to his Denmark lab following the war, and found the jar where he left it on the shelf. It went unnoticed by the Nazis.

After the war, de Hevesy retrieved the solution, precipitated the gold, and sent it to the Nobel Foundation, which recast the medals for the original winners.

At least some people are seeing Machado for who she is. She is someone who begged for her country to be invaded by the U.S.

A person who begs for their country to be invaded should not be receiving a "peace prize".

In either case, I am enjoying seeing her suck up to Trump this much and yet he's still like "nah, she shouldn't be the leader of her country". 🤭
@WestonTexan Still, isn’t Trump the one who made the offer ? And the U.S. had already grabbed Maduro, with plans to put Steven Miller in charge. Machado was already the opposition to Maduro. Is it possible that she simply made a pact with the devil to try and get her country back ? Trump was the blackmailer.

Meanwhile, Trump will probably not even let her run Venezuala even though she won the election. He will choose the current government. He doesn't really care about the people, he wants a government that will give him oil.
@JimboSaturn Yes. If was counting on this to be allowed to lead her country, she’s probably going to be disappointed.

As I said in another post, how can you get any ego gratification receiving an award someone else won? How can you be honoured getting a peace prize from a football league?
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@JimboSaturn A narcissist will gain satisfaction from the slightest flattery, and I don't suppose Trump realises the shallowness of her action, and the meaningless of the FIFA "award".

The same Trump who was openly dismissive of the woman and clearly does not want her and her Party running Venezuela...

What an unholy mess.

What would be their reactions if the Nobel Peace Prize Committee declared this award null and void?
