@ImNotHungry While I never supported him, when he was elected the first time my reaction was that a lot of the extreme negative response was overblown. I thought, "oh, c'mon everyone. He can't possibly be as bad as all that. You're in a needless panic." I gave him the benefit of the doubt. In particular, I thought that the cabinet and congress would ensure that nothing insane would be enacted.
I was wrong. He is worse than I ever thought he could be. And the cabinet and congress are worse than I thought they could be. And I am now in a panic myself.

You and I seem to have taken different paths, but we’ve arrived at the same unsettling realization. I look back now and wonder how I didn’t see this more clearly during his first term.

Very strong message. I can hear the audience gasping at the audacity of spelling out what so many people knew.

They truly lost their mind seeing a black dude becoming president and they went all-in with «I'd rather see society burning to the ground than live in one that allowed this to happen» ever since
Then there's people who got caught in the crossfire and legitimately fell for the propaganda/conspiracies, but I think the loyalist core of the movement is like that.
