that's a great example of abuse of the law for political purposes. i don't deny that GOP did that. they taught the American public to do that egregiously. For example, the Ken Starr investigation of Bill Clinton. the war on drugs. etc. enslavement of blacks was legal in america. at that time, people could have argued that abolitionists are violating the law. the american revolutionary war was an illegal rebellion against england. homosexuality was punished by jail time in the USA until very recently. the current laws being passed to ban abortion in USA are also political, and people who violate those laws do not view themselves as criminals.
