Absolute Bologna. Jesus loved and respected women. Times were different back then when women were not treated equally. The Bible is God's written word.

Written by men who lived in cultures where women were not equal. I can't say whether or not they were personally sexist, or if they were simply adhering to the expectations of their society.

that is true. Jesus was the first feminist in the bible. he called them to high positions in the church, treated them with far greater respect than anyone else, spoke them them as equals, and appeared to Mary, before anyone else, after being resurrected. Most likely because he was married to her. wouldn't you go to your spouse first after you had died? But, Jesus didn't write the new testament, so the general statement that the bible was written by sexist men, especially pauls letters, still holds mostly true.

A wise old history professor of mine once said, "Don't judge historical figures by your times, but by the times in which they lived." Many women played prominent roles in the Bible, far exceeding the patrimonial attitudes of the time. So, you are dead wrong.

The Bible is a re-telling of the History of God and Christ, It is actual events that happened, not crap they made up because they were sexist

The men that wrote the bible were a product of their time, as we are today.
By our standards of course they were sexiest.

I wonder how we will be judged, two, four and six thousand years from now...

uh, everyone was sexist back then. anything written was sexist, including the bible.
Anopenheart · 51-55, M
@lampost yes, we should not hold them to OUR standards of sexism.

Yep -the Old Testament is all about control and keeping it
