Written by men who lived in cultures where women were not equal. I can't say whether or not they were personally sexist, or if they were simply adhering to the expectations of their society.

Jesus was the first feminist in the bible. he called them to high positions in the church, treated them with far greater respect than anyone else, spoke them them as equals, and appeared to Mary, before anyone else, after being resurrected. Most likely because he was married to her. wouldn't you go to your spouse first after you had died? But, Jesus didn't write the new testament, so the general statement that the bible was written by sexist men, especially pauls letters, still holds mostly true.

The Bible is a re-telling of the History of God and Christ, It is actual events that happened, not crap they made up because they were sexist
