itsoeasy · 56-60, M

TexChik · F
@itsoeasy then a rifle was a rifle ... and Japan knew it would be very difficult
curiosi · 61-69, F
At the time it was enacted the second amendment applied to all types of arms and was specifically intended to guarantee that private citizens could never be out gunned by the government.

An absolute violation of rights.
I don't view it as "gun control." I view it as "gun responsibility." Removing automatic and semiautomatic weapons would take years to accomplish. And obviously there will still be black market trading, weapons stockpiling, etc. But maybe there'd be less kids shooting up schools. Less people doing illegal hunting. Less irresponsible people having easy access to powerful machines. Not toys.
@COVID19 it's worked in other countries. the US is resistant to make important changes to direct the world toward a different way. not the way of consumerism. because it's not working.

@JAYS21 not everyone has responsible parents. some people are just fucking stupid.
Ynotisay · M
Personally I'd like to see a system like other countries where only the cops have them or, in specific cases, some are allowed for hunting. It'll never happen in the U.S. though. We don't have that kind of strength.
Ynotisay · M
@marineaqua Sure. But that speaks to another element of American society. We tend to treat the symptoms. Not the cause. We know what the root issue is when it comes to gang violence. But we focus our energy/money more on law enforcement and incarceration.
marineaqua · 22-25, F
@Ynotisay My view is that people who are for gun control particularly need to address the question as to why a person might be compelled to go out and shoot a group or groups of people. There is clearly an issue with how people with mental illnesses are treated in the U.S and I don’t think that it is any coincidence that the over prescription of SSRI drugs has coincided with a dramatic increase in mass shootings since the early 1990’s.
itsoeasy · 56-60, M
@marineaqua if they stopped making guns, then collected allthe guns from gangs, eventually they woul dhave control,
IWasCallingYaLarry · 26-30, M
I think if someone can be trusted with a gun and has had one for a while and hasn't killed anybody with it, I don't see a reason then why they shouldn't have it. Besides, more than I believe 90% of gun deaths are by people who illegally own guns. People who legally own guns aren't the ones going around randomly shooting innocent people.
Bad idea when over the top
beaglehunter · 70-79, M
i think responsable gun owners should be ok with guns take them away from the bad people and as your doing that take cars away from bad drivers and knives away from bad butchers.might be a good idea to take stoves away from bad cooks
