Yes towards this - Russia’s GDP per capita lags significantly behind the European average, standing at approximately $18,525 (nominal) and $52,479 (Purchasing Power Parity, or PPP). In contrast, the European Union (EU) average is much higher, with nominal GDP per capita exceeding $51,000 and PPP hovering around $62,000. And freedom. Why the hell would they want to be a prisoner to war monger dictator Putin?

ArtieKat · M
I voted for Brexit - but the EU is preferable any day of the week to being a vassal state of Putin's!
emiliya · 26-30, F
@ArtieKat What does that have to do with it, Artie?
ArtieKat · M
@emiliya What does
Moved on? Had you moved on when the blacks were picking cotton in America? How well do you think folk in Asia are getting paid?

Ha, moved on. You make me laugh.
have to do with Putin's warmongering in Europe?
emiliya · 26-30, F
@ArtieKat You said the world has moved on. I am saying it hasn't moved on. Do you understand?

This began because you think a comment about nuking is a threat. Why do you think my comment is a threat? Tell me about it. Or “move on.”

"Running into the arms of the beast" as the Kremlin sees it, instead of the paws of the bear.
TexChik · F
They have all the money and the only functional and battle tested military in non communist Europe . If they were smart they would decline
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@TexChik Why should they decline? It's not in their interest do so.

Joining the EU would far more likely benefit Ukraine than disadvantage it.

Alsoi your reference to its military ability is not really relevant to her becoming an EU member, because although the European nations are allies militarily, mainly via NATO, the European Union is NOT a military alliance.

It is a political and economic bloc. It is a "common market" for trading, although there was never "The Common Market". That was only what the UK's Prime Minister Edward Heath kept calling its predecessor, the European Economic Community, when he took Britain into it..

Judging by comments on SW, many Americans seem to have the same few but important misconceptions about both Europe and the EU, making me wonder just what they are told about them.If anything at all. While we all know Emiliya, who posed the question, is at least pro-Russian, perhaps working for the Russian Federation's government.

Yes. And what if I am in the belly of the beast, spying on ArishMell?
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@emiliya LOL!

At least you are giving us the official Kremlin line.

(Obviously I know you are not really spying on me.)
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
EU/NATO is nothing but a repeat of the League of Nations... and that turned out so well... two world wars and 75-100 million dead...
dale74 · M
@emiliya you know how to identify a democrat, it's normally in the first two sentences of a conversation. As they're telling you how you need to spend your money and what you need to do to make other people's lives better.
emiliya · 26-30, F
@dale74 They don't want to make lives better. What they want is to unleash the beast and restrain it in you. Don't ever think this is naivety. It is malice.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@wildbill83 There is no such thing as EU/NATO !

Althoughh memberships by nation overlap they are totally different, totally separate alliances with totally different purposes.
dale74 · M
So true but i don't think any nation at war should be allowed to join. Kinda invitation to ww3. Eu thinks they are all that but with out a certain member they loose 60% of the nato power.
emiliya · 26-30, F
@dale74 This may end in nukes.
dale74 · M
@emiliya and that will be a problem hope they are not aiming them at us when they are fired.
