This is misleading information considering that it is being accomplished with $8 billion of aid from New York State, whose deficit swells to $34.3 billion for the next 3 years.
Whether it’s the city or the state, a budget deficit is a budget deficit. Smoke and mirrors cannot be converted into actual money.

According to the Board of Elections, about 6 million people are registered as Democratic, 3.7 million as independent, and 2.8 million as Republican.
We haven’t elected a genuine Republican as mayor since Rudy Giuliani, who left office in 2001. Mike Bloomberg was a Democrat running as a Republican.
