South Korea could have known they weren't being protected. The US population knows that the US military cannot protect it but is designed to crush it. Europe understands you occupy it to destroy society, not to protect Europe. Taiwan understands that. They already knew in all those places before Hegseth said we defend nobody, we maximize lethality, before US took the defending missiles away and put them in Israel.

The fear of North Korea compels South Korea to keep the US bases where they are. The South Koreans are in the same position as the South Vietnamese vis a vis North Vietnam back in 1960. Whatever our geopolitical motives are, Americans - as a people - are not bad.

American presence in Europe is a mystery to me. Our ganging up with the Europeans is a geopolitical conspiracy for God knows what. Thankfully, Trump doesn't get it either and has unwittingly killed the NATO military alliance.

Taiwan understands that. They already knew in all those places before Hegseth said we defend nobody, we maximize lethality, before US took the defending missiles away and put them in Israel.

Taiwan is populated by Chinese, the same people as those across the straits in Fujian province on mainland China. Taiwan's main product shoring up its economy is the computer chip. China provides rare earths needed for its production, and those chips are exported to the US.

Historically the bases have served multiple countries well. Now there is a man in charge who is only interested how he can use America for his own profit. No doubt lot of this oil revenue and other spoils will find it's way to his family's pockets.
