even Hitler & Hirohito weren't stupid enough to underestimate the US's manufacturing capability; though we may have lagged behind in certain tech markets, rest assured that we could easily outstrip anyone else if the need arises

as for leverage, the US is one of Europe's largest suppliers of Fuel, Food, Machinery, etc.

good luck building chips with no machines to build them with, little food, and little power...

@wildbill83 clearly I’ve touched a nerve. This will hurt Trump far more than us 🙂

@G7J2O despite all the rhetoric, failed impeachments, assassination attempts, etc., he's still here... 😊

Except she's not going to tank the US economy just because she can. If that happens, the EU will also be affected. Trump doesn't always act in the best interests of the US, but Von Der Leyen definitely acts in the EU's interests. The world economy is interconnected and she knows what happens here has an effect there.

@Lila15 Probably not with the chips, but if she applies the EU’s own rules on data protection, the US AI bubble bursts.

If Trump continues to bully Europe, she only needs to threaten him with this inconvenient truth.

Interesting read, some angles that don't often get discussed.

Interesting, but something like 95% of AI has no commercial value according to the MIT study. So if it’s a busted flush Ursula’s lever looks a bit flaccid.
